James was born in Luss and enlisted in Glasgow to the HLI and became Pte 13617. He was KIA on 18 March 1916. James rests in the Aveluy Communal Cemetery Extension along with over 580 identified casualties |

Ludvic Colquhoun | Ludvic was the son of George and Janet, of Shemore, Luss, Loch Lomond. He served in the Highland Light Inf. as Pte 43454, previously being in the Lanarkshire Yeo. as 1506 to which he enlisted in Glasgow. Ludvic was KIA on 24 March 1918 aged 37 and is remembered on the Pozieres Memorial | |
James Johnson | ||
Archibald McBeth | Archibald was born in Luss, the son of Archibald and Annie McQueen McBeth of Old Mill, Luss. He enlisted, aged 25 in Dumbarton where he gave his occupation as that of gamekeeper. Archibald was 5' 10 " tall, weighed 162 lbs and had an expanded chest of 39". On his attestation papers he stated his mother was deceased and that he had 3 brothers and 2 sisters aged between 19 and 28. He joined the Gordon Highlanders as Pte S/8161. Archibald was KIA on 17 June 1915. Archibald is remembered on the Menin Gate Memorial along with over 54000 other casualties who have no known grave. Archibald's father was the recipient of his sons Victory and British War Medals. |

Duncan McKellar | Duncan was the son of John and Elizabeth McKellar of Luss. He enlisted in Bath, joining the North Somerset Yeomanry as 165258 and rising to become A/S QMS. He died at sea on 10 October 1918 aged 30 and rests in Grangegorman Military Cemetery, Ireland along with over 600 identified casualties | |
James H McKellar | James Houston McKellar was born in Luss, the son of John and Elizabeth McKellar of Alderdale, Luss. James enlisted in London, where he stated he lived at Tufnell Park, Middlesex. He served as Pioneer 268063 in the Corps of Royal Engineers. He was KIA on 7 September 1917 aged 26 and rests in Bard Cottage Cemetery along with over 1600 other identified casualties | |
Hugh Macrae | Hugh Cameron Macrae was born in Luss and enlisted in Brichlyne, joining the Gordon Highlanders as S/1733. He was KIA on 31 July 1917 and rests in Menin Road South Military Cemetery along with over 1500 other identified casualties and over 100 whose name is known only unto their God | |
William Miller | Walter was born in Luss but by the time of his death had been living in Arden by Alexandria. He enlisted in Dumbarton into the Clyde RGA with a service no. of 213. He was later serving in the RGA as Gunner 118748. Walter died of wounds on 21 May 1917 and rests in Duisans British Cemeery, Etrun with over 3200 of his fellows in arms | |
Arch MacG Park | Possibly, Arthur who served as 40481 in the HLI and later as Private 42484 KOSB | |
Duncan Cairns | Possibly, Duncan Cairns from the Govan who enlisted in Belfast and served as Rifleman 14272 in the Royal Irish Rifles. Duncan died of wounds on 11 December 1917 aged 35 and rests in Rocquigny-Equancorut Road British Cemetery, Manancourt along with over 2000 other identified casualties. Duncan left a widow, Charlote of Tyne Street, Belfast. | |
